Privacy Policy

FairSwipe is made by Balthazar Van de Velde (Made by Balthazar), Belgium. This policy covers both the iPhone version and the Android version of the app.

The short version

FairSwipe does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Your photos

FairSwipe asks for access to the photos and videos on your device so it can show them to you and delete the ones you choose. On Android this is the READ_MEDIA_IMAGES and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO permission. Everything happens on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, copied, or sent anywhere.

The app needs access to your whole library rather than a hand-picked selection, because that is what it is for: reviewing everything in it, finding duplicates across it, and measuring how much storage each part of it takes.

Deleting always goes through your operating system's own confirmation dialog. On iPhone the items move to "Recently Deleted" in the Photos app; on Android they move to your gallery's Trash. Either way they stay recoverable for 30 days.

You can withdraw access at any time — on iPhone in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos, on Android in Settings → Apps → FairSwipe → Permissions.

Purchases

FairSwipe offers a single one-time purchase, handled entirely by the store you installed it from: Apple through the App Store, or Google through Google Play. We never see your payment details. How they handle that transaction is described in Apple's and Google's own privacy policies.

Data stored on your device

So that a later session can pick up where the last one stopped, FairSwipe keeps a small amount of information in its own private storage on your device: which items you chose to keep, image fingerprints used to detect duplicates (computed on your device), your settings, and a running total of how much space you have freed. None of this leaves your device, and all of it disappears when you uninstall the app.

Internet access

FairSwipe works with the internet switched off. It contacts the app store only to check whether the unlock has been purchased, and to complete a purchase if you make one.

Children

FairSwipe is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to give you access to, correct, or delete. If you have a question about this, write to us and we will answer.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
